How to help family and friends understand?
How do you discuss your child’s and family’s experiences and needs with family members, friends, and neighbours, and school-mates?
Family members and friends often have questions that they are hesitant to ask, and parents are frequently reluctant to raise issues. Our discussion will address concerns that family and friends – adults and children have difficulties in addressing.
Bill McKellin – a father of an adult daughter with a rare form of dwarfism and also a medical anthropologist at UBC.
Andrew Neufeld – a Registered Clinical Counsellor, who is the Executive Director of Alongside You accessible health services. He grew up with a friend with a rare condition and has worked with individuals and families with rare conditions and developmental disabilities for many years.
