Rare Finds Supports A Unique Research Grants Approach
As a friend of the rare disease community, you already know the extraordinary challenges faced by families with rare and undiagnosed diseases. There are more than 7,000 rare conditions affecting nearly 3 million Canadians, half of whom are children. That’s why CORD is partnering with the Rare Disease Foundation (RDF) to deliver the Rare Disease Microgrant Program. Pioneered by the Rare Disease Foundation, the program’s unique approach leverages relatively small amounts of money and good ideas to create large impacts for those living with rare disorders. The RDF Microgrant Program brings together: researchers with skills and interest in genetics and other applied fields, patients and families with first-hand knowledge of rare and ultra-rare conditions, and clinicians dedicated to “heroic efforts” when it comes to improving the lives of their patients.
